With English county council switching to Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Chromebooks and G Suite, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) and Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) are feeling the heat as Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) makes more inroads in to schools not only in US but around the world, Schools are increasingly switching to G Suite and Google docs and sheets from Microsoft Office.
Chromebooks and G Suite are steadily replacing Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Office and Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) in schools. 5,500 corporate users and 11,500 schools users from Northumberland County have chosen to switch to G-suite and Chromebooks to reduce overall infrastructure and maintenance cost. Northumberland County Council has estimated saving of £2.5 million on licensing and hardware, with added advantage of reduced safety risk.
73,000 and 9,000 educators from Florida’s Brevard County and 4 K-12 schools, 2,944 students, and 263 educators from Amherst Central in New York State are only the latest schools to switch to G-Suit and Chromebook from Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Office and Apple Macbooks.
Neil Arnold CIO, Northumberland County Council added “Firefighters use Hangouts at the scene of fires to communicate to central command, so the chief fire officer doesn’t have to drive to the scene.” The new and innovative approach Schools and Government departments are adapting to Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) G-Suites has put Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) and Apple at uneasy.
Hoover City Schools, Alabama , Oak Hills Local School District, Ohio have been using Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Chromebooks from past 3 years and G-Suites from past 7 years saving more than $100,000 a year in software license and server fees. Googles Chromebooks and G-suite costs only 26% when compared to Micrsofts Office and Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) Macbook solutions. 17,500 students from Lee’s Summit R-7 School District, Missouri have also switched to Chromebooks and G-Suite. These examples are just a fraction of schools and Governments ditching Microsoft Office and Macbooks and the trend is only getting stronger year on year.
