The Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta is one of those events you have to be a part of at least once in your life. This year, tourists from all over the world will be able to bask in the glory of what has been deemed “The Most Photographed Event on the Planet”. The event will take place between the 7th of October and the 15th of the same month.
If you’re a first-timer at the show, you could definitely use some tips from someone who has been there and knows what’s all about. Here’s what you need to do to get the most of the ballooning affair.
- Try not to stay only one day
The Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta lasts for nine days, but if the weather is bad, the event could be annulled on a particular day. You wouldn’t want that to be precisely the day you’re in New Mexico. If possible, stay there throughout the entire event, so you don’t miss anything.
Don’t lose sleep over buying tickets
Tickets can be purchased both online and from the park; you can rest assured that the event won’t be sold out. And one more thing: the price is usually $10 per person, but there are two sessions: in the morning and the evening. You’ll have to pay $20 a day if you leave the morning session and then return in the evening.
Make friends by waking up early
Balloons are customarily launched as early as 6 AM. If you’re not a morning person, try to be for the remainder of the festival, lest you miss on some of the best parts of the entire event. If you persevere, you can go to the park at 4:30 AM, because that’s when the gates are open.
Don’t bring food or drinks
There’s plenty of food at the Fiesta. There’s something for everybody. You can stuff yourself with nachos, burgers, doughnuts, pizza and many other delicacies. The same goes for drinks. You can find anything you might want at the event, from beer to wine and spirits.
The Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta is gorgeous, so try to be there for all nine days. As for the accommodation, you can either sleep in your car, rent a hotel room or even find Airbnb partners, whichever option is more tempting. Make the most of your $10. You won’t regret it, that’s for sure.
