There were 129 polling booths, which had no electricity, and this was identified by the administration in the district Bareilly. Noticing this, the district magistrate and district election officer Surendra Singh passed an order to the panchayat of the village to install solar-powered lights in all the 129 polling booths.
The basic amenities like drinking water, toilets, and proper light arrangements were already asked to be ensured if provided in all the polling booths by the Election Commission. Even after it was asked to be checked if all these polling booths had the basic amenities, most of the polling booths in Bareilly didn’t even have proper electricity, which was the worst part.
“We identified 129 polling booths which are yet to get an electric connection. At all such booths, we will keep a petromax lamp for illumination. Besides, village panchayats concerned have been directed to install solar lights at these polling booths,” said DM Singh who had won the award in the year 2102 as the Best DEO by EC in the country for holding polls in the district Firozabad.
There are around 1009 polling booths, which have been marked as “critical”, said the district election officer in 62 pockets in the district. There are already 174 anti-social elements that have been identified, and appropriate action is taken against all of them.
The data entry operator DEO said, “This time, the female ratio has improved to 829 from 822 per 1,000 male voters. Besides, electoral population ratio (EPR) has also increased from 60.37 to 61.76 which is very close to the state average of 62.” He also shares the statistics of the district telling that there are almost 30.52 lakh voters who would be exercising their franchises in the elections that are coming up.
